This morning, Cleo earned another 5-point major toward her Grand Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, with handler Daniel Sanchez under Judge Alberto Berrios. Again, a 5-point major is the greatest number of points any dog can earn in an AKC event, so we are thrilled with this repeat performance by Cleo! Thank you, Danny & Judge Berrios! Professional win photos to come very soon!

This morning, Cleo earned her first major win toward her Grand Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, with handler Daniel Sanchez under Judge Jay Richardson. It was a 5-point major, which is the greatest number of points any dog can earn in an AKC event, so we are very proud of this accomplishment!
The American Kennel Club requires a dog to obtain a total of 25 points with three major wins (a major win is worth three points or higher) to become a Grand Champion. The majors must be won under three different judges and at least one other judge must award some of the remaining points – so you need to win under at least four different judges. Also, at least one Champion of Record must be defeated at three of these shows. Very proud of Cleo today! Thank you, Danny & Judge Richardson! Professional win photos to come soon! What an excellent day today was! Cleo took Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite today in Atlanta, Georgia, with her handler, Daniel Sanchez, under Judge Angela Porpora for a 4 point major win, earning her an AKC Champion title! We are so proud of Cleo and our handlers, Danny & Vanessa Sanchez! A ton of thanks go to our handlers, Judge Porpora and of course, Cleo! Special thanks go to Yulia Washington, Steel & JoAnne Campbell & Kathi Wisdom!
Cleo finished her AKC Championship out of the 9-12 month puppy classes and it only took her 8 weeks of showing since she earned her first point in Miami in December. This is very impressive because she was up against some very tough competition the whole time! Yay, Cleo! Professional show photos to come soon, but in the meantime, below are two photos that our friend Gina took for us! Thanks, Gina! Here are 2 short video clips from today’s beach day, enjoy! Our fantabulous vet, Dr. Robert Pane of South Kendall Animal Clinic, is the President of a great organization called the South Florida Veterinary Foundation (SFVF). According to their website, the SFVF’s mission is to increase the access of quality veterinary care, promote responsible pet ownership, and increase awareness of the importance of the human-animal bond in our community. The SFVF is comprised of veterinarians in South Florida, such as Dr. Pane, who generously donate their time and energy to increase awareness and promote education about animal care in our community. The funds raised by the foundation benefit multiple causes – from donating to local rescue groups to running a free spay/neuter program and free vet care clinics for the pets belonging to low income families and the homeless.
Dee Hoult of Applause Your Paws is also a part of this organization’s team and has organized an event on Thursday, January 26th, at the University of Miami from 7:00-8:30 p.m. If you plan to attend, don’t forget to RSVP! Another great opportunity to make a positive contribution to our Cane Corso community was offered to me today! My friend, Alexia Fino, nominated me for the Fundraising Committee for the Cane Corso Association of America, which is the official Cane Corso breed organization for the American Kennel Club! The chairperson for this committee, Shauna DeMoss, approved me and now I am on the Fundraising Committee AND the Welcoming Committee! So excited! Thanks, Alexia!
Today’s victim of Orso torture: Mouse loves to taunt Orso when he is swimming! Mmmmmm, it squeaks AND tastes like chlorine! I love this bunny! Yum! Luna is sneaking in a dip in the pool before Orso tackles her! Luna is always on top of the world! Taking a breather: Assembly line of freshly-bathed furkids drying in the sun!
I am so proud to announce that on January 4th, 2012, I was voted onto the Welcoming Committee for the Cane Corso Association of America, which is the official Cane Corso breed organization for the American Kennel Club! It will be great to have this opportunity to serve as part of this awesome breed organization and hopefully make a positive contribution to our Cane Corso community! Thank you to the Board of Directors for voting me in and to Steel Campbell for nominating me!
